Barbara McDougall Scholarship Awards

Eligible Students: All declared undergraduate mathematics majors in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, who have not yet graduated, are eligible for the scholarships. Awards are renewable; renewal will require a re-application and will undergo the same review as all other applicants for the awards.

Awards: Two scholarships of  $750 each will be awarded to help students with the costs of textbooks and tuition. An additional scholarship of  $500 will be awarded for travel expenses to a national mathematics or Statistics Conference or Workshop. Students will be notified on or before June 1 by mail and will be honored at the department's annual Graduating Majors Recognition Ceremony. The student(s) will also be honored the following year at the PSU Recognition Ceremony.

Nomination Procedure: Students may nominate themselves, and/or individual department faculty may nominate students. Nominations should be addressed to the

The deadline is April 30. The nomination letter must include (1) the student's name, (2) social security number, (3) mailing address, (4) phone number, (5) expected term of graduation, and (6) have appended a current transcript.

The nominating letter should also include statements regarding current work in mathematics, service to the mathematical community, or promising future work in mathematics. If nominating for a Travel Scholarship, please indicate the name, purpose, dates, and location of the Conference or Workshop. Limit the nomination narrative to one or two typed pages.

The Barbara McDougall Scholarship Award is in honor of one of our past Portland State University students. Mrs. McDougall is generously providing these scholarships to help support promising undergraduate mathematics and statistics students.
