Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics
Portland State University

The Rempfer Scholarship Award is in memory of our past Department Chair, Prof. Robert Rempfer, and is generously provided by the Rempfer Family to encourage promising undergraduate mathematics students.

Eligibility: All declared undergraduate mathematics majors in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics & Statistics, who have not yet graduated (with at least one term of coursework left), are eligible for the Rempfer Scholarship. Past winners are not eligible. Students may re-apply for the scholarship each year.

Awards: Up to three students will be awarded $200 - $600 each (award amount subject to change). Students will be notified on or before June 1 by mail and will be honored at the department's annual Graduation Reception. The students(s) will also be honored the following year at the PSU Recognition Ceremony.

Nomination procedure: Students may nominate themselves, and/or individual department faculty may nominate students. The nomination letter must include: (1) the student's name, (2) PSU id, (3) mailing address, (4) phone number, (5) expected term of graduation, and (6) have appended a current transcript. The nomination letter should also include statements regarding outstanding work in mathematics, service to the mathematical community, or promising future work in mathematics.
