The last couple of days have been spent finding some necessities and arranging the purchase of a car. There is an open-air market (or marché) in Ifrane, which has many household and food items. But on Saturday, Aziz accompanied several of us to Fes, where we went shopping at MAKRO, a very modern wholesale/retail store, much like Costco or Sam's.

Buying a car is not a matter of finding a dealer in the yellow pages and going for a test drive. Instead, you find someone who knows someone who is selling a car, and begin a complex series of negotiations. If all goes well, Tuesday morning I'll be the anxious new owner of a 1996 Moroccan-made Fiat Uno, formerly belonging to a friend of the brother of Nordin, one of the drivers in the university van pool.
