is the last set of pictures from Christmas Eve in Paris. Above left
is the Seine River. Above right, several dozen people were ice skating
in front of the City Hall.
On
the north side of Paris, on the butte Montmartre, is the Basilique du
Sacré Coeur. Below, center, is a view of Paris from the basilica. Below,
right, are the steps leading down from the butte.
On
Christmas Day, I flew from Paris back to Casablanca. Security was extreme,
since the "shoe bomber" incident had just occurred. From Casa,
I took the train to Meknes. From there, it should have been a simple
task to get a ride in a grand taxi to Ifrane, but it was snowing heavily
and none of the drivers wanted to make the trip up the mountain. A few
extra dirhams later, though, I had negotiated a ride.
