Seine River Skaters

Friday, June 7, 2002

Here is the last set of pictures from Christmas Eve in Paris. Above left is the Seine River. Above right, several dozen people were ice skating in front of the City Hall.

On the north side of Paris, on the butte Montmartre, is the Basilique du Sacré Coeur. Below, center, is a view of Paris from the basilica. Below, right, are the steps leading down from the butte.

On Christmas Day, I flew from Paris back to Casablanca. Security was extreme, since the "shoe bomber" incident had just occurred. From Casa, I took the train to Meknes. From there, it should have been a simple task to get a ride in a grand taxi to Ifrane, but it was snowing heavily and none of the drivers wanted to make the trip up the mountain. A few extra dirhams later, though, I had negotiated a ride.
