| Writing 3 | For this writing assignment, its _your_ turn to find an article. Find an
article on teaching fractions, focusing on adding, subtracting, or multiplying fractions. (Not division yet.)
Some good journals to consider are: "Teaching Children Mathematics" and
"Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School." Both of these are available in the resource room (NH 305) or
through the library. Older additions are available directly through the library website,
if you login with your ODIN ID/password. The newest additions are available in hardcopy. Once you find your article, read it carefully and type a one page (double spaced, 12 pt font) summary. Be sure to reference the article correctly (title, author, journal, date, etc). Assume your target audience is other future teachers who would like know the point of the article without reading it themselves. Title your write-up "Math 212: Writing 3." I would suggest completing this assignment over the weekend, but you will have until Thursday to submit your write-up. | Thurs, Jan 27th (Week 4) |
| HW 6 | Click here for HW 6 If you missed class on Thurs, Jan 20th, you missed a quiz. Contact me about making that up before Tuesday's class. | Tues, Jan 25th |
| HW 7 | Click here for HW 7. The goal of this assignment is to
give you time outside of class to think of story problems, so that you can share them
with your new groups on Thursday. Its okay if they aren't perfect, but please bring
problems to share with your group so that you don't let your group down. Third reading assignment is due, start of class on Thursday. Turn in typed paper copy. (assignment is specified above) "Bonus opportunity" : Due Tues, Fab 1st

due to doctors' visits. If you need to make up Thursday's quiz, the best time is the half

you can send your questions via email and I can often answer them that way. Sorry for the inconvenience. | ||
