APPLY BEFORE NOVEMBER 15, 2005:

A Graduate Research Assistant Stipend (Winter and Spring 2006,

0.15 FTE each, includes tuition)  is available for research and documentation

of research projects in Geometry/Topology. The student will work

with Prof. Veerman.

 

Purpose:

This is a 2 term Graduate Stipend. The student in question will

conduct research related to the regularity and the topology of mediatrices

and in general of minimally separating sets, and in general

the mathematics of separation. This involves notions like

Comparison Theorems in geometry and exact homology

sequences in topology.

In addition, the student will assist in managing the Nonlinear

Systems Seminar. This consists of aiding in the planning of the seminar

and writing a summary of each of the talks presented which will

then be posted on the world wide web.

 

Prerequisites:

Strong preference for a student in the Mathematical Sciences

PhD program or a related Master's Program with a strong background

in Geometry and/or Topology. Willingness/capability

to assemble information
